Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive loss of kidney function over months or years. The kidneys' primary role is to filter waste products and excess fluid from the blood. When damaged, they fail to perform these functions efficiently, leading to a buildup of waste in the body and various health complications. CKD is often caused by conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure. Untreated, it can progress to end-stage renal disease, requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant for survival.
