#edema
Edema is the medical term for swelling caused by excess fluid trapped in your body's tissues. It most commonly affects the legs, feet, and ankles, but it can occur in any part of the body. Edema can be a symptom of various underlying conditions, including heart failure, kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid disorders, and venous insufficiency. While mild edema may resolve on its own, persistent or severe edema requires medical evaluation to identify and treat the underlying cause.
