It is caused by dermatophytes, fungi that thrive in warm, moist environments. Symptoms include itching, stinging, burning, redness, scaling, peeling skin, and sometimes blisters. The infection is contagious and can spread through direct contact or contaminated surfaces in communal areas like showers and locker rooms.
